“As a child, John B. Herrington dreamed of becoming an astronaut. “When I was little, I used to sit in a cardboard box and dream about going to the moon,” he said. Herrington, a retired U.S. Navy commander and NASA astronaut, spoke at Carthage College on Saturday about the importance of embracing that childhood dream and pursuing it throughout his life. A member of the Chickasaw Nation, Herrington became the first enrolled Native American to travel into space. He spoke about his life and his journey — before and after becoming an astronaut.”(more)
