The Telegraph – Jonathan Taylor

“In schools, an awful lot of attention is devoted to children who stand out – the talented, the brilliant and the naughty – and to those studying for all-important exams. Students who aren’t sporting or academic stars, whose behaviour isn’t disruptive and who aren’t taking high-stakes exams can be benignly neglected. This is especially true of middle-class youngsters in Years 8 and 9, who cause no trouble and win no prizes. So much effort is expended by secondary schools guiding children through formal exams that these youngsters can easily be overlooked.”(more)
