The Clinton News Record – Daniel Caudle

“According to the US Foreign Service Institute, it should take 480 hours of practice to reach basic fluency. Or, if you practised for one hour a day, it would take your 1.3 years to become fluent in French. According to the Peel District School Board, the 2018-2019 school year has 187 instructional days for elementary and secondary students. This number is the average number through the years that students will spend in school in a given year. Taking our average 480 hours to learn a language and dividing by school days in a year, with one hour of language classes a year, it gives us 2.5 years for a student to learn a language.” (more)
