Pre-K isn’t simply day care, it’s a necessity

“Educators say the best way to see what quality pre-K looks like is to spend some time watching 3- and 4-year-olds learn. On a recent morning at DISD’s Harllee Early Childhood Center, active tots moved freely and orderly around vibrant classrooms, taking their turns at computers, working in teams, writing letters on dry erase boards. Some worked at interactive screens designing what healthy meals look like. Others worked individually with a teacher recognizing words in English and Spanish. This certainty wasn’t babysitting. This was structured and age-appropriate learning — the kind that research shows gives youngsters the best foundation to succeed throughout their academic careers.”(more)
