“Parenting is known for delivering surprises – and that includes the financial shock of educational costs that can begin as early as preschool. Preschool programs will set a family’s budget back by about $9,000 per year, according to Child Care Aware of America, a nonprofit focused on childcare issues. Private K-12 education is also costly, with elementary school and high school charging an average of almost $8,000 and $13,000, respectively.
