“Prakash Amarasooriya is on a mission to get more financial literacy into Ontario high schools. So far, he seems to have a savvy investor’s touch when it comes to good timing. The 23-year-old is behind a petition launched by the Toronto Youth Cabinet three weeks ago that calls on the Ontario Ministry of Education to revamp its Grade 10 career studies course to incorporate the basics of budgeting. “These skills are vital and should be a priority,” says Amarasooriya, who works part-time in a bank and knows first-hand how alarming it is to face financial instability without any money skills to rely on.”(more)
