“The Senate education committee today gave swift, unanimous approval to a bill that would revise the $5.2 billion Child Care and Development Block Grant program, which hasn’t gotten a makeover since 1996. When the program was first created, back in the 1990’s, it was seen primarily as a way to help parents enter the workforce, or get job training. This renewal, however, puts a greater emphasis on the quality of the child care programs children are entering.” (more)
