“The three languages children should learn to best set up their life in ten years’ time have been revealed by a new study. It claims that French, German and Mandarin are the languages that will give children the best opportunities in the future. Language skills are expected to add up to £500billion to the economy by 2027. However, 45 per cent of British parents admit that their children can’t speak a second language. The study was carried out by Heathrow, the Centre for Economics and Business Research and Opinium, with the hub announcing a Little Linguists initiative, which aims to inspire children to learn new languages. The airport has created packs of Mr Adventure themed flashcards, available for families to download online or pick up for free at information desks across all terminals airside over the Easter holidays. The cards feature a series of simple phrases to introduce kids to French, German and Mandarin.”(more)
