“When kids are young, it is easy to come up with sensory activities for them to do. Sensory bins, water play, play dough, and the like would keep kids busy for hours. Those same sensory items do not work for tweens, however. And given how important it is for all age groups to engage in sensory activities, it is necessary to find things that will engage tweens to help ground them, especially when life gets confusing or stressful. Because of this, the sooner that parents can find sensory activities for their tween boys and girls, the better adolescents’ mental health will be for it.” (more)
