We examined the extensive technology listings from several organizations, including the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) and the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) and came up with a sampling of the more innovative and interesting educational products they discussed: TripleTalk USB Mini Speech Synthesizer: Hardware text-to-speech (TTS) synthesizers convert written text into electronic speech. The TripleTalk Mini, from Access Solutions, connects via a USB port and converts standard ASCII text into audible English or Spanish. The volume is adjustable through a slider on the unit itself, or through the accompanying software. In addition to offering 11 distinct voices, it can be tailored to the user’s preferences in speed, pitch, and tone.”(more)
