“Only half of Americans now believe that a college education is “very important,” a dramatic decrease from the 70% who said it was very important in 2013. And 13% of adults believe that higher education is “not too important,” more than twice the percentage (6%) in 2013. Those are two main takeaways from a national poll just released by Gallup, and they are results sure to send shivers through higher education leaders who have been struggling with several negative stories about the fairness, costs and overall state of higher education during the past year.” (more)
