“Educators in the Coachella Valley want as many students as possible to have access to art because it has the power to engage them, increase their confidence and get them excited about school. And summer is the perfect time for students to try something new, district officials said. This year, two districts have expanded their summer programs to include art camps. Palm Springs Unified School District began offering summer art camps last year with a ballroom dance program and added a DJ camp and a musical theater camp this summer. Coachella Valley Unified School District was able to expand its summer school program for the first time in seven years and is offering drumline, jazz and art to students.”(more)
