“Curlicues and loopty loops don’t have a promising future in Florida as schools transition to the Common Core State Standards, which don’t call for cursive instruction. The state’s previous standards, which date back to 2007, require fourth-graders to “demonstrate legible cursive writing skills.” But some educators and parents say jointed letters lose out to other academic demands.”(more)
