“The Swedish research team used well-known techniques including magnetic resonance imaging, also known as MRI, and electrophysiology among many others. The research was conducted on military recruits split into two groups—the first group intensively learned languages while the other studied medicine for three months—and it revealed that learning a foreign language had a visible effect on the brain. Interestingly, the language learners experienced an increase in the brain area linked to how easy they found languages, which means that they may have acquired even more flair for learning languages.”(more)
