“University of Florida President Bernie Machen said Thursday that a 30 percent increase to undergraduate tuition might be needed to get through possible state budget cuts. He told the Faculty Senate that in next month’s legislative session, he now expects cuts to UF’s base funding as well as employee benefits. He said the university might need a one-time, 30 percent increase to tuition and fees, or about $1,500 per student, to keep core programs intact.”(more)
