” Mental health, domestic violence and cyber bullying are among the top concerns school leaders have about pupil well-being, a new report has found. More than two-thirds of those surveyed said they were worried about their pupils’ mental health, with the research revealing regional variations. Seventy-nine per cent of respondents in the North West said pupil mental health was a key concern, compared with 72 per cent in the South East. The survey of 1,180 school leaders, conducted by school support company, The Key, reveals the most concerning pupil health and safeguarding issues for head teachers in England. After mental health, domestic violence and cyber bullying, 36 per cent of school leaders citied obesity as a worry, 23 per cent said drugs were a concern, and 21 per cent highlighted ‘sexting’ as an issue.”(more)
