“NBC Learn has produced a series of educational videos in partnership with the National Science Foundation and the US Patent and Trademark Office that showcases the process behind innovation. The three-part set, named “Science of Innovation,” was released this month and continues a series begun in 2013. The videos are narrated by NBC News and MSNBC anchor Kate Snow. Six scientists and engineers are featured in the videos. Adam Feinberg of Carnegie Mellon University is featured for his innovations in 3D bioprinting. Mary Frecker of Pennsylvania State University has used the Japanese paper folding art of origami to inspire designs for tools that will be used in the fields of medicine and space exploration. Rajiv Mishra of the University of North Texas is using friction-stir welding to improve the strength and toughness of metals, and could possibly change the future of automotive and aircraft technology.”(more)
