“The Department for Education (DfE) believes disclosing such information about school staff will help parents make more “informed choices” about their children’s education by naming and shaming poor performers. . . .It comes amid concern that procedures for rooting out incompetent teachers are failing, leaving thousands of youngsters receiving substandard education. An investigation earlier this year found that in the decade since the General Teaching Council (GTC) was created with the power to strike off teachers, only 18 have been banned from the classroom.”(more)
