“The United States ranks 14th in the world in cognitive skills and educational attainment, while Pacific Asian countries and regions dominate the top rankings, according to a report commissioned by Pearson, the multinational education company. The report cited a “culture of accountability” as the reason South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong were ranked in the top four for their overall education performance.”(more)
