“Students at Zachary Elementary School are asking people to recycle old athletic shoes by dropping them in bins at the school April 23-27. The students are participating in Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe campaign in an effort to reduce the number of athletic shoes that find their way into landfills and take decades to decompose. A news release from the Zachary Community School District says Nike recycles every part of the shoe into a Nike Grind material used to line athletic surfaces, such as playgrounds and tracks.”(more)
