And by (falsely) claiming to live in their neighborhoods, my sister and I were able to attend rigorous academic high schools; we both went on to obtain college degrees. I got a Ph.D. and become a college professor and college president. It worked out for both of us. But I still remember those days as an anxious time for my sister and me.
