“Any group will have its bad apples and it should surprise no one that researchers can provide solid evidence of rank incompetence among teachers. What should enrage everyone is that unions do their level best to keep them teaching. They do this mostly through devotion to a tenure system that can make trying to fire someone for even the most egregious acts a lengthy, prohibitively expensive process that at the end of the day may still leave the culprit on hand to wreck young lives.”(more)
