“Families typically consider academic, social and behavioral readiness when determining whether children with late summer birthdays should start kindergarten at age 5 or 6. State law says they must be 5 by Sept. 1 to enroll in 5-year-old kindergarten, but parents may decide children who recently had a birthday aren’t ready for the classroom.”(more)
