“Learning how to read maps is a lost skill for kids today. Deemed as antiquated and unnecessary by some as a result of GPS maps with digital voices that inform users where to turn and when they have reached their location, maps do not seem to have a place for the average traveler. And while it may not be necessary for physical maps to be used when traveling short distances, the critical thinking and problem-solving skills acquired by learning to read them are used for much more than just reading a map.
