And, with spring, Rebecca Levik seems to get sick. “I’m always stuffy and I have a running nose and I sneeze and I cough a lot,” the 12-year-old said. Natalie Farber noticed that her daughter’s cold-like symptoms seemed to linger. “Initially it was once in a while, but then it became more often and now it’s like every day. “So we’re thinking it’s not cold, but allergies, she said. That’s why Farber took her daughter to see Dr. Samuel Friedlander, a respiratory and allergy specialist with Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. He says allergies can mimic a cold. “With infections we often will see things like fevers; with allergies we tend to see consistency. With the seasonal allergies, since the body has seen them for so long, there is a huge flare in symptoms,” Dr. Friedlander said.”(more)
